Plus, youtube is brimming with videos of cats that can outplay me. Like this guy, who apparently thinks he's Kiti Hendrix or somebody. Maybe Kittie Ray Vaughan.

Cat Scratch Fever
I should just stay off youtube. It does nothing but aggravate me. I check out the instructional guitar videos that are billed as being for beginners who have never touched a guitar and maybe only heard one played a couple of times. But 45 seconds into the video, it's over my head with talk of intervals in a traditional pentatonic scale that are normally limited to whole steps and minor thirds. My self-esteem gets shattered.

It depends what you want to play, but you could check out
my blog. I teach guitar and stick all the handouts I make on this blog for people to download - from elementary stuff to slightly hard.
I should stress it doesn't set out to try to teach online, just provide material to play.
Hi, congratulation. Your blog is recommended by blogspot to see. I like it.
It seem that your life dedicated to guitar?. Great. Have a nice day with your guitar.
Guitar?? ya something I had dreamed when I was kid.
That is hilarious!
Really though... I've been playing the guitar for over 14 years and what I've noticed is that it's easy enough to pick up but then there comes a threshold where you may need a teacher to push you through to the next level. That's what worked for me a couple years ago, and it's probably that time again!
Just pick a song you like then look up the tabulature online and ask a friend to show you a couple things. Then you're on your way.
Looks more like Terminatorkitty.
Don't forget Kitti Santana.
ok that cat has RED eyes!
Never underestimate a determined pussy!
yeah... thats about my personal guitar playing skill level...
Sounds like your blog is going well. Good luck. I'm running for US Senate in NY State...

I think your cat is just adorable! Yeah he can play that guitar :].
That's one cool kitty, you have there, my cat Dusty-Rose, jealousy guards my sons guitar, but has'n't quite mastered that guitars are for playing, not sleeping on! Thanks its been fun reading, great blog!
:D
Haha I was expecting so much more from that kitty...
Learning guitar is a lot harder than other instruments I've encountered. I don't know why. It's definitely disheartening most of the time though!
Chin up!

I can identify with being a rock bottom beginner. I'm a classic late bloomer. But you seem to have a very good sense of humor and a steadfast determination. I think that's all you need.
p.s. Just read your potential band names. Can't pick a favorite ... liked way too many.
Cat Stevens?
Don't disparage that cat's abilities. i think he's playing the solo from neil young's 'cinnamon girl.'
That's funny! at the end, the cat is like "I didn't do it, I swear!"
I've been literally playing guitar for 20 years already (on a very amateur level, that is), and pretty much the only chords I know is C G and F. Sad as hell. Great blog you've got though!
great blog keep postin.maybe someday when i have a guitar i shall render to ur advice...
i blog at http://scaredandscarred.blogspot.com/
This Cat is Evil, with it's red Eyes, Guitar Devil =)
Buzzy -- yes, those red eyes are devilish. That cat must have followed the Robert Johnson guitar instruction method.
Dominic -- thanks; will check it out.
that cat can play.
Love your blog and the musical cat!
My friend on facebook just sent me a piece of flair called "Guitar Hero Cat" CUTE! I posted the link to the video & also mentioned your blog on my wall.
I love this. Kitty's got talent.
I love the Kittie Ray Vaughan and Kiti Hendrix comment. If only I could play half as well as that cat haha.
Cheers.

want to learn to play too.. and untill now it is still a want, coz till now i can't,
nice blog..
yay!... someone else with a (loosely termed) music blog, who spends far too much time on youtube and who hates all forms of B... :-D
What the hell is going on with the kittie's eyes!! :-O
Your blog is fab! Keep up the great posts, you put a smile on my face....and I'm pretty tired at the mo! I learned to leave YouTube alone a while ago, it's pretty bad for my ego too.
Congratulations on this fabulous guitar blog. I too play a "little" guitar. I love that idea! When my husband passed away, I picked up his guitar and started to write song after song. It was with simple chords, but my heart just wanted to sing. From simple chanting and strumming came some pretty inspiring pieces. I say there is no wrong way if it adds meaning and joy to your life. I mean just look at the eyes of that kitty when she finished. ha ha. Play on.
yah. I started playing guitar when I went to college and I've figured some ways of learning it, I pick a song which I love to listen to and it would be much better if I were the one playing the guitar while singing it. It makes easier to learn play a guitar with that rather than memorizing it one by one.
that's just kittiful
Oh man. Why is that so hilarious to me right now? Wow. Awesome.
