From a musician's perspective (I play piano) the guitar certainly has more versatility, at least different versatility, than a piano. I love the sound of a guitar, though, and that should be a reason in there as well.

I like your blog. (poster) Marantha is right - you never are too old to learn. I got tired of saying 'some day' n bought an axe & a how-to course when I was 38. With daily practice it's amazing how proficient one can become in a years time. And forget the excuses, because I'm left handed but learned to play rightie (it's a RH world), me fingers are chunky little sausages and I'm bi-polar. So quit making excuses and get yourself a six string. You can't buy talent in a music store but you can buy everything else you will need. So get to it and practice practice practice!

My friend started playing when he was about 40 yrs old. He practiced so much he got trigger finger! He writes his own songs now & then & he can help lead small groups in worship. SO...it's never too late to learn!

Blimmin heck.. you get a lot of spam when you get to be a blog of note! :-P Would have to say for me, I was put off learning guitar through my youth because it was always made to be so complicated, almost mathmatical, charts and progressions and blah and bleh.. Then, in my late twenties i met my fella who showed me c,f and g and said, now play!... my reason for learning was because I was his chordy player so he could play endless fiddly lead things! It was a selfish teaching on his part, but I'm very grateful!-)

Haha, I like how playing the guitar has basically done nothing for you. :)

And number three is incredibly wrong. Sure, not everyone can, but there have been some legacies in music that have been able to do some amazing things with more than just a guitar.

At least you always have enlightenment.
